Alien Cities

Our new gallery includes three graphic series, which we have only now viewed - and only a small part - because they are so extensive. We called the first series Alien Ninjas. It was created in 2016 and contains around one thousand five hundred graphics. We called the second series Alien Starships. It was staged between 2014 and 2016. What connects both series: Real-world figures pose in front of futuristic spaceships and wonderfully bright, crooked, colorful houses. You will find the houses in their pure form again in series three.

Theme World: ALIEN-NINJAS

At the height of terrorism in 2016, the artist created a graphic series that she wanted to present to ZEIT. She discussed masked people, terrorism and soldiery in order to give the omnipresent threat a voice and give courage. From this initial idea, the idea of ninjas, the hooded Asian fighters, developed. They were then allowed to wave flags. However, these spaceships were put aside. The artist also put many pretty, colorfully curly women in uniforms and called them “astronauts.” The houses are more colorful than ever before. Yes, the glowing ruins are a real eye-catcher!

Alien-Starships

Spaceships in front of a fantasy metropolis. This series was created in an early creative period of Jolly Daubs. The artist experimented with bright colors and posed her spaceship in front of her Alien City. Most of the pictures were taken with a wink. Sometimes the cat sat in the cockpit of the spaceship, sometimes us - always good for a laugh.

Alien-Cities

Here are the cities without people or spaceships. We see that the artist's secret love for architecture still burned.
