Circular Tiles

This genre of ornamental patterns is defined by its circular motif stacked along the compass directions. This applies insofar as these designs incorporate elements gravitating around a centre focal point, resulting in a general parity of visual axes. This often results in actual circle shapes, but not necessarily. Of note is the pointed interim space, not unlike a star or indeed the lozenge from the octagonal tiles. This space often becomes an independent part of the design, balancing the dominance of the circles.
